Recent PCM graduate Dalton Kingery is back in Monroe after a trip to Rock Springs, Wyoming, to take part in the largest rodeo in the world. KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall was able to catch up with the bucking horse rider on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program to talk about what made this year’s trip the the National High School Finals Rodeo different, the friends he made along the way, and what it meant to earn a coveted spot in the final round.

Earlier this month, 2012 PCM graduate Dalton Kingery successfully defended his state title in Saddle Bronc Riding with a strong finish to his season at the 2012 Iowa High School Rodeo Association State Finals. With a berth at the National Finals Rodeo in Saddle Bronc Riding – along with qualifying in Bareback Riding – under his belt, Kingery continues to train and compete; not only for the national competition, but for his future. The aspiring professional rider and former wrestling standout at PCM talked with KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program about his past, why he plans to make a career out of the sport he loves, and what it means to him to be a cowboy.

The Iowa High School Rodeo Association State Finals were held last weekend in Waterloo, and the Marion County area was well-represented in a diverse blend of competitions – one of which yielded a State Champion.
