Vandals have seriously damaged equipment at the Knoxville Skate Park, forcing the removal of at least one piece with no timetable as to when or if it will be returned.

The damage to one of the skate park’s ramps was done Tuesday night. City Manager Harold Stewart says the upkeep of the skatepark is mostly done by volunteers and that the amount of damage done is too costly for it to be repaired at this time. So the ramp is being removed for safety reasons.

Stewart says any possibility of repairs to the damaged equipment won’t be considered until next spring.
