The first of Iowa’s deer hunting seasons begins today. The season is open for youth hunters and disabled hunters statewide. Iowa residents who are younger than 16 the day they buy their license are eligible for the season. The youth hunting season is geared towards one on one training between a youth and a mentor without the competition of other hunters. The hunting hours are between a half hour before sunrise, and a half hour after sunset.
