Democrats from seven south-central Iowa counties converged on Lake Red Rock Sunday for the 6th annual 7-County Democratic Rally and Fundraiser held at the Cordova Pavilion. Attendees enjoyed appetizers, desserts, and beverages while listening to music performed by Jackson Street Edition, a band from Marion County as well as hearing from Democratic Presidential Candidates, Ben Gleib and Joe Sestak. Gleib, a comedian from California tells KNIA/KRLS News he is running for president because he believes it’s time we try something different. Gleib says he thinks a comedian might be what is needed to take down as he describes, “the biggest heckler in political history, than any career politician.” Gleib says he is scared that U.S. history and world history will take a dark turn that no one would ever want and that we all will regret forever and he wanted to make sure he could sleep at night knowing he is doing all he can for the country.

Sunday’s rally also featured U.S. Senate candidates, Eddie Mauro, Kimberly Graham and Cal Woods as well as U.S. Congressional candidates, Rita Hart and Newman Abuissa as well as guest speakers former Iowa Lt. Governor Patty Judge and Matt Russell with Coyote Run Farm. The seven counties which took part in Sunday’s rally were Marion, Appanoose, Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe, and Wayne counties. Both a live, and silent auction were also held to help raise funds for the seven counties’ Democratic campaign and election needs.
