Today is Easter. Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament. Easter was first celebrated in the mid-second century. The First Council of Nicaea in AD 325 established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. Pastor Brian Nolder, with Christ the Redeemer Church in Pella tells KNIA/KRLS News “Easter…is basically about one word: Hope. Hope for life beyond the grave; hope for restoration, even after we’ve really blown it…; hope for a new power to live as God wants us to; hope for a world that will be full of life, prosperity, peace, and … hope. Hope that we will one day see God face to face, with joy that will never end. Happy–hopeful–Easter!”
