Central College has received another substantial federal grant for their Upward Bound program. According to Senator Grassley’s Office, the college was awarded $583,461 by the U.S. Department of Education. Central College Upward Bound Director Louise Esveld says the program has been funded continuously since 1966 and that they have one of the oldest and largest in the country, with 130 students. Upward Bound helps low-income individuals and potential first-generation college students between the ages of 13 and 19 prepare for post-secondary education.
