middle-school-2

As the Knoxville Community School District prepares for a March 3rd bond referendum vote regarding the new middle school project, questions continue to arise as to why the new building is needed. Besides the infrastructure concerns regarding the old building, the current middle school can not currently provide the best opportunity for students, according to current Knoxville School Board Member and retired teacher Larry Scott. Scott, who was a teacher for the district for twenty five years tells KNIA/KRLS News the current middle school was great for teaching students twenty five years ago but over time and with today’s education standards the old school just doesn’t cut it. Scott says with the way education continues to develop, the new middle school would give students a better chance at being prepared to move on to high school and eventually the workforce. The district is giving the residents of Knoxville the opportunity to learn more about the project during a special Town Talk event at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, January 29th at 5 p.m.  Anyone attending will hear more about what impact the project will have on the community as well as learn more about the scope of the project and why it’s important. There will also be a community discussion about the project.
