Due in part to dry weather and low yields, a quick harvest is nearing it’s end. Matt Kaufman from Key Cooperative tells KNIA/KRLS News that farmers started applying anhydrous to their crops late last week to make sure that there is nitrogen available to grow corn for the following year. Kaufman adds that beans aid in the process by putting extra nitrogen back into the soil for the corn to use. Kaufman says farmers will also spend time tilling the ground to get the corn stalks worked under from this years growing season.
