Private properties suffered more damage from Tuesday’s severe weather than from previous storms that have struck Marion County this year.

Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson estimates about 200 homes have been impacted with some degree of flood damage and that number could grow. Anyone with damage due to flooding is asked to document the damage and report it as soon as possible.

Reporting information is available below:

Marion County residents whose homes or business’ suffered damage as a result of the severe weather and flooding that occurred on/after July 26th should report the damage to the Marion County Emergency Management office at 641-828-2256 (leave a message containing the information), or via email to janderson@co.marion.ia.us as soon as possible. Residents are encouraged to document damages by taking notes and pictures (even if items are destroyed and thrown away).

To make a report, please have the following information:
-your name
-your phone number
-the address of the damaged home/business
-the type of damage (basement flooding; home flooded;
-the extent of the damage (amount of water in basement; amount of water on main floor)
-do you have insurance that will cover any of the damage
-the number of adults and children living in the home
