Yet another element of winter weather is making its first appearance of this winter season. A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for Marion County and most of the state from 9 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain will also work northward into Iowa after sunset and continue in intervals through the night. The best chance of accumulating ice is in the eastern half of Iowa where a freezing rain advisory has been issued. The biggest impact will be on those planning to travel throughout the area until the advisory officially expires.
