Central College will host more than 100 geographic information system (GIS) users for the Iowa Geographic Information Council conference.
It features keynote speaker Joseph Kerski, education manager for the Environmental Systems Research Institute. Conference Chair Anya Butt says the three day event on April 7th through the 9th will allow participants to explore technologies that are quickly becoming essential throughout the world. The conference will allow GIS professionals and students to learn more about technologies and collaborate and connect with each other.
Central graduates, including Adam Clark ’14 and Scott Sandberg ’07, will also attend the IGIC conference. Clark was recently named GIS coordinator of Hamilton County, and Sandberg, who was part of Central’s first GIS course, is now research specialist for Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation’s National Farm Medicine Center.
The conference schedule includes events for attendees with various levels of GIS and mapping experience. After March 25, registration costs $200 for the full conference and $125 for day registration.
