Fierce winds and cool temperatures helped send scores soaring and the Central College men’s golf team placed 11th in a strong 14-team field at the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational yesterday.

The Central College Men’s golf team was in fourth-place after the first round of the Mount Mercy Cropper Classic yesterday. In their first action of the season, the Dutch were led by junior Jason Harvey, who shot a 69 and is in second place individually going into today’s final round. On the women’s side, two top-three performances have the Dutch in a tie for first place with the host team through the first round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational. Senior Eva Downes fired a career-best 73 and is tied for first individually, while sophomore Sarah Paulson is in third place after carding a 77. That tournament also resumes today.

Golfers are hitting the links again today at Bos Landen as the course reopens under new ownership. Co-owner Scott Reuter says he never thought he’d open a golf course in about three-and-a-half weeks. He says both the course and restaurant are ready but adds that a lot of work remains. Reuter encourages people to visit and see the improvements that have been made in recent weeks.
