Knoxville Cross Country Looking To Sweep SCC Tuesday

The Knoxville Cross Country Squads will try to reach their goal of sweeping the South Central Conference championships this season. The girls are a slight favorite after placing above all conference team its last meet in Centerville, while the boys are looking to turn some heads in Chariton on Tuesday. All season Coach Michael Splavec has used the line ups for both of his teams to see who can step up in the second positions and on back. The Conference meet will take place Tuesday starting at four-30.

Busy Week For Knoxville Includes Homecoming

With Knoxville celebrating homecoming this week, there are also a lot of sports in action. Volleyball has a chance to clinch an outright South Central Conference title with a win over Clarke on Tuesday, the Panthers sewed up a share of the conference last week at Eddyville. The cross country runners will head to Centerville to tune up for the upcoming conference meet later this month. The swimmers will don their purple of gold of Indianola travel to Southeast Polk on Thursday, while the football squad will host North Polk to end the week. Knoxville Girls 5th; Boys 7th At Oskaloosa Cross Country Meet

The Knoxville Girls Cross Country Squad finished fifth at the Oskaloosa Invitational yesterday. Led by Ashley Cumpton with an eighth place finish in a time of 22:15, the Panthers were just 14 points out of the top three. The boys placed seventh…just one point out of the sixth place Albia and 20 points away from fifth place Eddyville-Blakesburg. Jordan Bacon led the Panthers with a 32nd place finish with a time of 20:21. Coach Michael Splavec told KNIA/KRLS Sports, they are defiantly on the rise for both boys and girls at this point in the season. Twin Cedars also competed in the meet. The Sabers did not have a complete team to score points but was led on the boys side by Lane Anderson in 62nd place in a time of 23:09.

Knoxville Cross Country Continues To Improve At Grinnell Meet

The Knoxville Cross Country Squads ran at Grinnell yesterday with the girls finishing ninth led by Ashley Cumpton with a time of 21:45, the boys were 12th led by Jordan Bacon in a time of 19:08.

Knoxville Hopes To Sweep SCC Cross Country Titles Tuesday

The Knoxville Cross Country Squads run the South Central Conference meet on Tuesday. The Panthers hope to sweep the S-C-C meet. The girls are defending conference champions and something Coach Michael Splavec is trying to get his team to due to run in a pack. He says that is what helped them win the conference title last season. Splavec is confident the boys can take the conference title if they run up to their potential. He says along with his seniors…he is also relying on a few freshmen to step in in one of the money meets.
