Ames Construction crews currently working on the Lake Red Rock Hydroelectric Project are hoping to boost the local economy.

Vern Cochran with Missouri River Energy Services tells KNIA/KRLS News that Ames has made an effort to use local services for most of their materials. He says more than 25,000 yards of locally purchased concrete has been used in the first year of the project.

According to estimates provided by Missouri River Energy Services, the construction of the new power plant is expected to generate $250 million in economic benefits to the region by the time it’s completed in 2018.
