Central Dutch linebacker Luke Geneser was named Iowa Conference Football defensive player of the week for his effort against Luther on Saturday. Geneser intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in the 31 – 14 victory. Each interception set-up a Dutch score; the first led to a touchdown and the second put three points on the board with a field goal. Geneser has 29 tackles on the season for the 3 – 4 Dutch, who will next play Loras College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Still looking for a win outside of Pella, the Central College football team takes to the road for its next two games and starts with Saturday’s contest against Buena Vista University at Storm Lake. Central is 2 – 3 overall and 1 – 1 in Iowa Conference play after running out of time for a second-half revival in a 21-18 defeat to Simpson College Saturday in Pella. Buena Vista is 0 – 5 overall and 0 – 2 in the league. Trevor Castle will have the call on 92.1 KRLS with pregame starting at 12:45 and kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
