Marion County Emergency Management Director Jeff Anderson has been elected as the president of the Iowa Emergency Management Association. Anderson has served as a vice president for the association for the past two years, and now leads the organization which oversees local emergency management operations in the state. Anderson says that his job is to make changes and amend policies that will always put Iowans in the best position to respond to disasters.

“Representing the Iowa emergency managers with things such as meetings with the governor, meetings with Homeland Security. We work with our lobbying partners to make changes to code to improve either the ability of the emergency managers to do their job for Iowans. To seek changes in the law to better enable our residents of Iowa to be prepared for disasters such as the derecho.”
