Jim Hicks with Johnston, Hicks and Griffith Law Firm in Knoxville recently celebrated his 50th year practicing law.

Hicks reached the milestone this year on June 14th, beginning his practice back in 1973. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1966. After high school, Hicks attended Simpson College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970. Following his time at Simpson, Hicks attended Drake University Law School, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1973. After passing the bar exam, Hicks joined his father-in-law Joe Johnston in the practice and they formed Johnston and Hicks Law Firm. After 50 years in the business, Hicks says the best part of the job is the people he works with.

“Not to sound corny or cliche, but I like meeting the people. I grew up in Red Oak, very comfortable, similar to Knoxville and that’s what I like. I like the people.”
