The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad sits in 2nd place after day one of the class 3A State Meet at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames. The Panthers shot a 329, which was not where they wanted to be, but most everyone else had higher than usual scores. Knoxville is ten shots back of leader MOC Floyd Valley. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports a few holes got his team into trouble.

Smith: “We just let a few holes get to us early on and got into some bogey streaks. We were talking about shooting a 320 so with a 329 we weren’t that far off.”

Smith adds the boys are not far off from having a great round today. Kail Arkema led the Panthers with a 79 which has him tied for 6th overall in the individual standings. Other scores, Evan Smith scored an 80, Beau Leisure had an 83, Carson Uitermarkt carded an 87, Brady Roozeboom had a 93 and Noah Keefer scored a 102.
