The Knoxville Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon-cutting at Randy Wilson Track on Friday.

The event celebrated the completion of the new turf and regulation soccer field. Iowa Track legend and Olympian Randy Wilson spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the project.

“I have been to a lot of stadiums and tracks around Central Iowa and the Midwest and this is one of the best turf fields and tracks I have seen in a long time. The kids of Knoxville have a goldmine out here, thanks to the generous donations from the Weiler Foundation and the private family that kicked in money.”

Vice President of the Weiler Foundation Joel Weiler spoke about the foundation’s donation to the project.

“Honestly, the Knoxville Schools and community have given a lot to us. We started with five employees back in 2000 and we wouldn’t have the growth that we have had without the community and the schools. We were happy to give back and I hope the kids enjoy it.”

The Weiler Foundation was recognized for their $500,000 donation as well as the Ted Williams Estate donation that helped complete the project.
