The Knoxville Panthers are embarking on their trip to the Class 2A state soccer tournament today, and fans are being urged to cheer them on as they leave.

The team bus departs from Knoxville High School at 12:10 p.m. Today is the last day of school, and is scheduled for early dismissal, so all students will be available to see them off and attend the match against Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Fans are urged to wear gold, and line Willets Street as the team heads off; their quarterfinal round game starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

Wet grounds there forced the postponement of the opening round to today; the semifinals have been pushed back to Saturday, with the finals on Tuesday.

Today’s game can be heard live on FM 95.3 KNIA.
