Red Rock Marina Entrance – March 2015

The Red Rock Marina will have new ownership.

Dallas-based Suntex Marinas announced the acquisition and redevelopment of the Lake Red Rock Marina on Wednesday.

“Suntex is thrilled to expand their presence within Iowa’s very active recreational boating community,” Ron TenEyck, VP of Operations of Suntex Marinas, said in a statement. “Red Rock Marina is the perfect addition to Suntex’s portfolio of premier destination marinas, and we look forward to further enhancing the customer experience on Lake Red Rock with the facilities redevelopment.”

Mike Slatterly, Regional Midwest Manager and General Manager of Saylorville Lake Marina, will be at the helm of this large scale project.

Assistant Operations Manager Josh Conrad with the Army Corps of Engineers says they made base improvements to a new marina site in 2011. He says Suntex will develop on top of those additions and in the meantime will take over operations of the current marina.

“The other location is much better than the current location just due to the fact that it’s more protected from wind and wave action,” Conrad tells KNIA/KRLS News. “Being usable at all lake elevations is a major feature because the current marina facilities are really impacted when the water goes up and down.”

The new facility will eventually feature 178 covered and uncovered wet slips ranging from 24-60 feet, a floating marine store with fuel dock, golf cart access to the docks for slip owners, additional paved parking, RV parking and cabins. Construction is expected to start immediately, with some of the new features ready by Spring of 2016.
