More snow looks to be heading towards the region this evening, which may cause travel issues for many traveling in the area.

According to the National Weather Service, 1-2″ of snow is possible throughout most of central Iowa–especially north of U.S. Highway 34, likely beginning after 8 p.m. and continuing through early Thursday morning. Winds are expected to top out at 20 miles per hour as well, which may cause low visibility and potential drifting.

After a brief warm up Thursday, even colder weather is expected this weekend, with dangerous wind chills down to 25 below zero in the forecast for Saturday through New Year’s Day morning and day time air temperatures peaking in the single digits those three days.
