The Little Hawkeye Conference volleyball season opens tonight throughout south central Iowa.
One of the preseason league favorites, Pella, heads to Grinnell for their first league match.
The Lady Dutch are off to a 5-2 record to start the 2016 season, and Coach Catie Brand’s club carries the #2 ranking in class 4-A into tonight’s match.
“We’ve put a lot of time in the offseason, and we feel like having a lot of returners coming back from last year that we’re going to play with experience. It’s nice that people in the state recognize that as well. But we also don’t want it to change the way we approach any match, or any game. We want to play our best volleyball, regardless of what our ranking is or what the ranking is of the team on the other side – we want to play our best volleyball every single set.”
In other Little Hawkeye Conference action tonight, Pella Christian travels to Oskaloosa. The Eagles are coming off a 1-3 effort in Saturday’s season opening tournament.
Both Pella Christian and Pella’s varsity matches are scheduled to start at approximately 7:15 tonight.
