February is Heart Awareness Month. Statistics show that heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women, killing twice as many people every year, as all the cancers combined. To help focus on heart health, Knoxville Hospital and Clinics will hold a “Love Your Heart” event on Thursday. Katrina Nelson, Director of Public Relations, says that from 6 am to noon, in the lobby of the hospital you can have your blood pressure, cholesterol and heart screenings including carotid and aortic scans. Nelson says appointments are required, and can be made by calling 842-1466.
