The Mercy One Helicopter based out of Knoxville made a safe, unplanned landing Sunday. Mercy Hospital Spokesman Gregg Lagan tells KNIA/KRLS News that the helicopter was on route from Pella to Iowa City when a safety light was activated on the dashboard. The helicopter landed safely just east of Pella in Mahaska County. The transport was completed with help from the Mahaska County Sheriff Department, Mercy Ambulance, and the Des Moines-based Mercy One helicopter. Lagan says no one on board the helicopter was injured, including the crew and patient. Lagan says that the aircraft has since been inspected twice, and no mechanical issues have been found. The helicopter returned to service last night.
