Mike Roberts will be running for the Knoxville City Council this fall. Roberts tells KNIA/KRLS News that he has worked at the Knoxville Raceway since 1999 and has been the director of the Knoxville Veteran Alliance representing Knoxville Manufacturing since last year. He’s also is a 1984 graduate of Knoxville High School. Roberts was elected to the City Council in 2007, but was unable to fulfill his obligation after taking a job with the City. Roberts also is currently a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club.

The first day to officially file for city elections is Monday, and the deadline is Thursday, September 19th. Roberts is the first candidate to inform KNIA/KRLS News of his intent to run for City Council. The seats held by Elsie Kemp and David Roozenboom are up for election this year. Current mayor Don Zoutte will be running again for Mayor in Knoxville, and Brian Hatch is planning on challenging him.
