Equipment at the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department faces annual inspection. State mandate requires that all engines go through a thorough inspection at least once a year. Both of the departments’ engines have undergone their inspections as of Monday evening. According to Fire Chief Mike Roberts, the second of the two engines was brought to Altoona Monday afternoon to make sure all if its parts are working and in check. He says the inspection includes everything from tires to oil and gages. The fire and rescue department does inspect its’ equipment in-house each week but these in-depth inspections can help prevent small problems from turning into large ones and costing the department a lot of money.
