Fielding errors by Pella Christian spotted the PCM baseball team some much-needed extra outs in the middle innings and powerful pitching helped the Mustangs hang on for a 6-5 win Tuesday night in the Class 2A District Semifinals in Pella.

Earlier this month, 2012 PCM graduate Dalton Kingery successfully defended his state title in Saddle Bronc Riding with a strong finish to his season at the 2012 Iowa High School Rodeo Association State Finals. With a berth at the National Finals Rodeo in Saddle Bronc Riding – along with qualifying in Bareback Riding – under his belt, Kingery continues to train and compete; not only for the national competition, but for his future. The aspiring professional rider and former wrestling standout at PCM talked with KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program about his past, why he plans to make a career out of the sport he loves, and what it means to him to be a cowboy.

The Iowa High School Rodeo Association State Finals were held last weekend in Waterloo, and the Marion County area was well-represented in a diverse blend of competitions – one of which yielded a State Champion.
