The Knoxville Police Department has a new officer on the streets this week. Officer Eric How graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy last week. How was presented with the Academy’s Woodard Award, which goes to the officer with the highest academic average. The Department is still in the process of seeking a replacement for Officer Randy Puyear, who retired earlier this year. Police Chief Dan Losada says they accepted 30 applications for the position last week and will be conducting tests soon.
