PCM Boys Basketball Underclassman Starting To Contribute Varsity Minutes

On the court the Mustangs are lead by Senior Forward Logan Gilman who averages 21 points per game, and Junior Forward Luke Greiner who averages just under 15. Looking at the stats, those aren’t the only contributors on offense by a long shot, but at almost all times the offense runs through them. However with basketball being such a team oriented sport it falls to the rest of the players to pick up some slack on the defensive end.

PCM Sweeps Struggling Saydel

Both PCM squads avenged losses from earlier in the week with a sweep of the Eagles of Saydel last night, the girls winning in a back and forth overtime game 50-47 and the Boys squad leading from start to finish 55-45. The Mustang girls held a 22-18 halftime lead, before relinquishing that in the second half and would trail heading into the 4th quarter 33-31. Junior Kayla Jennings hit one of two free throws with three seconds remaining to tie the score and send the game into overtime, and the Mustangs never looked back dominating the extra period. Kayla Jennings led the Mustangs with 21 points, and the win brings the PCM record to 6-3. Head Coach Jeff Lindsey said that his team’s fortitude to come back was something to be admired. Luke Greiner scored 14 first half points as the Mustangs built a 29-13 halftime lead. A flat third quarter from the Mustangs allowed the Eagles to get back into the game, but the deficit was too large and Logan Gilman took over the game en route to a game high points. The Mustangs are now 5-3 and suit up against Knoxville later today.

PCM Basketball Has Chance to Pick Up Pieces After Heartbreaker

After gaining a two point lead late in the game from a Sheldon Spears three pointer, the Mustangs Boys Squad thought they would start the week off with a win. A late three pointer from North Polk dashed those dreams, and sent the Mustangs home with a mark in the loss column.

PCM Defeats CMB in Alphabet Bowl

The PCM Mustangs took care of business during their road trip to CMB last night, the girls balanced scoring proving to be too much for the Raiders and put them away easily 43-24, while the boys hit 5 first quarter three pointers and never looked back winning 64-50. The girls game was close after the first quarter at 11-7, but the Mustangs held the Raiders to just two second quarter points on their way to a 22-9 halftime lead. Jayce Vos hit a trio of three pointers and led the Mustangs with 12, and Rachel Stafford came off the bench scoring 10, and the win puts the Lady Mustangs at 5-2. Logan Gilman hit three first quarter three pointers on his way to a staggering 27 points as the Mustang boys led from start to finish against the Raiders in a 64-50 victory. Luke Greiner continued to fill his role as a secondary scorer, hitting his season average at 14 points, all in the paint. Head Coach Fred Lorenson said his team finally broke out of their early season shooting slump tonight. The boys move to 4-1, and both teams will next play Tuesday at home against conference foe North Polk.
