PCM Track Prepares For State Tournament in Drake

PCM’s track squads will begin state tournament play today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, as three events that the Mustangs are competing in will begin today.

The three events PCM will have athletes competing in are the boys 200 meter dash and the girls and boys shuttle hurdle relays. In the 200 meter dash, the Mustangs will have Jacob VanWinkle compete in the preliminary rounds. The shuttle hurdle relays will be run by various athletes with multiple championship opportunities including VanWinkle and Margo Chipps. Girls Coach Eric Karr tells KRLS Sports that his team’s desire goes unmatched.

“They wanted it. If you told me at the beginning at the season that we are taking all these events to state, I would have rolled my eyes and said, ‘let’s take it one meet at a time.’”

Events begin at the Blue Oval at 9:00 A.M.

PCM Soccer Begins Playoff Action at West Central Valley

PCM’s soccer squad will begin playoff action today as they travel to West Central Valley for a first-round matchup.

The Mustangs will not only look for an upset, but revenge as they played West Central Valley Monday and lost 4-0. PCM will come into the playoffs with a 2-12 recond and on a five-game losing streak, including getting outscored in those matches 35-1.

The match will begin at West Central Valley High School at 7:30 PM.

PCM Boys Golf Looks For a State Berth at State Center

PCM’s boys golf squad will be looking for a berth to the state tournament as they have their district meet at State Center today.

The Mustangs came off finishing third in their final regular season meet at Pella behind the host and Newton. Andrew Mitchell was the low golfer for PCM as he finished with an 81, including a 38 on the front nine. Gaitlin Boell finished second with a score of 91. The Mustangs won their sectional title last Thursday at Davis County, finishing with a 363.

The meet will begin at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center at 10 A.M.
