Tied at 4-4 entering the seventh inning, the Knoxville bats sprung to life, exploding for five runs in the decisive inning in a 9-4 win for the Panthers at Pella High School in a game broadcast on 92.1 fm KRLS on Wednesday night.

As both coaches had predicted, Monday night’s Little Hawkeye Conference baseball doubleheader between Pella High and Pella Christian was as tightly contested as they come, but it was the Eagles that would come away with the sweep; 2-1, 3-2 over the Little Dutch.

The Pella baseball team made a stirring comeback in last night’s Class 3-A District Tournament opener to force extra inning, but ran out of lucky breaks in the eighth inning, as Carlisle downed the Little Dutch 4-3.
