Moving up in this week’s rankings, the No. 12 in 1A Pella Christian girls soccer team dominated against Chariton, winning 6-nil Thurdsay. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says the win and how they did it represents significant growth over the past several years for the program.

“This was a Chariton team that three years ago beat us, so for us to really dominate the just shows how much the girls have invested in this program and we keep improving,” Buchheit says.

Freshman Avey Amelse posted her second hat trick of the season, and goals were also scored by Molly Bolt, Lindsay Breon, and Tessa Brouwer. The 5-2 Eagles are back on the road Tuesday at Grinnell.

The undefeated streak continues for Pella Christian girls tennis in dual meets this season after topping Saydel 10-1. Lizzy Posthuma, Jaden Joy Morgan, Kitty Gu, Megan Kramer, and Kelly Van Wyk all earned singles wins for the Eagles. Pella Christian is 8-0 and travels to Newton Tuesday.
