In the midst of practices and just now this week able to get a few warm-ups outside because of the weather, the Pella Christian girls’ track and field team and coach Kevin Herdegen is starting to piece strengths and weaknesses of his athletes together to figure out a possible line-up for early in the year.

Cooler temperatures and higher-ranked competition prevented our local high school athletes from having the same degree of success on Friday at the Drake Relays as they enjoyed on Thursday, but 23 total athletes competing in five different events still came away with a number of things to be proud of.

In Class B, Pella Christian’s boys took fifth with 66 points. Notable performances for the Eagles include dual golds for Derek Van Kooten in the High Jump and Long Jump, along with a silver medal from Caleb Fredrickson in the 100 Meter Dash, among others.
