The Pella High boys tennis team gets in one final tune-up before Monday’s Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament, as the Little Dutch make the short trip to Knoxville this afternoon for a dual meet with the Panthers.  In preparing for the structure of the conference and district tournaments, Pella head coach Nick Seipel has been moving up some of his lower seeds into the No. 1 slot – a spot held much of the season by senior Brannon Johnson.

“After this year, we’re going to have to have other people player number one, and so getting a David Lapthorn, a Tom Palmer – we’ll have Michael Schemm play some number one too this year. We’ll have four different guys playing number one [singles],” said Seipel. “That’s going to be good, because they’ll have some nerves, and butterflies and jitters playing other teams’ number ones; so getting that experience this year will prove valuable in future years as well.”

Competition between the Little Dutch and the Panthers begins at 4:00 p.m this afternoon at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts in Knoxville.
