The Pella High girls basketball team managed to put a scare into the top-ranked team in Class 3A, but Williamsburg pulled away from the Lady Dutch in the second half to claim a 53-40 win in Pella last night.

The Lady Dutch trailed just 20-19 at halftime – and held close with the Raiders in the early minutes of the second half – but the Pella offense sputtered out as the game wore on and Williamsburg’s Paige Greiner caught fire to put the game out of reach.

Reagan Cooper accounted for nearly half of Pella’s scoring with 19 points, her second impressive outing this season.

“She’s played two outstanding games against Ballard – who’s a great team – and then Williamsburg – the number one team in the state – tonight.  We’re really happy with her,” said Pella girls head coach Jerod Garland.

“She demands attention offensively.  Two or three girls were collapsing [inside] and we got some good kick-outs, [but] we just have to knock those down.  Reagan played a great game with another double-double”

That’s Lady Dutch head coach Jerod Garland.  Katie Sunderman chipped in 8 points as well for the Pella girls, who fall to 0-2 on the season.  They’ll host Mount Pleasant on Saturday.
