The mild winter and unseasonably warm spring has allowed more opportunities for public works projects for the City of Pella. Public Works Director Denny Buyert provides an update on some of the larger projects the city has undertaken, as well as discusses what tasks lie ahead in the coming weeks.

Soggy ground near Sunken Gardens Park in Pella was swallowed up Tuesday, as a large sinkhole was reported in a flower bed near Main Street.

Despite an increase in the amount of water being discharged from the dam at Lake Red Rock, the supply of drinking water for the City of Pella is not likely to be affected as it had been in previous high-water events in 1993 and 2008.
