Pella High swept the Knoxville Cross Country Invitational yesterday at Pine Knolls Country Club golf course. The Lady Dutch won with a team score of 33 points with Newton second with 50.

A national title in any competition is a remarkable – often once-in-a-lifetime – feat; but a pair of brothers from Pella found a way to replicate that success and crank out a jaw-dropping four Grand National titles on the International Kart Federations biggest stage. On this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program, 15-year-old Cole and 13-year-old Drew Janssen welcomed KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall into their shop to talk about what it meant to be a go-kart national champion, how they got there, and what they hope the future has in store for them. The Pella Farmer’s Market kicked off yesterday. While it was too early in the year for the market to have many vegetables, lettuce and other leafy greens were on sale, along with vegetable plants and spice plants that have already started to grow.
