A man in Knoxville narrowly avoided injury after a boom truck he was operating struck secondary power lines. The Knoxville Fire Department was called out to the scene in an alley near the corner of Brobst and Robinson Streets at around 11:15am at the report of a fireball and possible down power lines. Fire Chief Nick Bonstell tells KNIA/KRLS News that a man was unloading equipment when the boom being operated struck the power lines. The impact was so powerful, it blew a five-inch hole in one front tire while blowing the rim out of the other. The man appeared unhurt; Bonstell says if someone had been on the ground touching the vehicle when contact was made, they’d likely be dead. He says it’s a good reminder to be very careful when working around power lines.
