State representative Guy Vander linden recently told KNIA/KRLS News that he believes that the state needs to approve a supplemental state aid increase that can actually be funded, rather than making promises to schools that cannot be kept. Vander linden says part of the problem is that the law requires legislatures to approve each years rate increase two years out, making it hard for lawmakers to know what revenue will be available. Vander linden suggests approving two years at a time every other year, which in his opinion would help alleviate the over promising, under funding dilemma they’ve faced in recent years.
