It’s a critical week for the Little Hawkeye Conference standings that begins with the Pella basketball teams traveling to Indianola for a girls-boys doubleheader this evening.

The opener features a pair of ranked squads, with the #15 Dutch (8-2 overall, 4-1 in LHC) taking on an Indianola girls team that’s ranked 8th (5-5 overall, 3-2 in the LHC) but has lost three in a row, albeit to a pair of state championship favorites in #1 in 5A Johnston and #2 in 4A Dallas Center-Grimes.

Pella is trying to buck recent history; the series has been dominated by the girls in purple and gold, who have won every matchup since January 2020.

The nightcap may be missing some star power, as Drew Kingery has been out for the past two thrillers for the home team due to injury, and Luke Hardman was out against PCM Monday, and will be considered a game-time decision this evening. Regardless, the Pella/Indianola boys match up should be expected to be a thriller based on recent history; before the January 21st, 2022 blowout in favor of Indianola, the series had an average margin of victory of 4.5 points per game since 2018.

Coverage of Pella vs. Indianola basketball will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m. on 94.3 KNIA and the KRLS2 stream.
