Retiring State Representatives Guy Vander Linden and Greg Heartsill were both recently honored by the Marion County Republicans.
Vander Linden says he learned a lot during his eight years in office, and will remember some of the key legislation bills he helped passed.
“I like to think that I started the voter ID piece when I had the state government chair,” he says. “But the biggest achievement of my committee was the tax bill this year out of Ways and Means. I don’t by any means take credit for that, but it was certainly something that I very much wanted to see happen.”
Vander Linden says he is also thankful for the time spent with those he served in District 79. Republican Dustin Hite, Democrat Samantha Fields, and Libertarian Nicholas Ryan are running for Vander Linden’s open seat in November.
