The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently made improvements to the Whitebreast Recreation Area. In an effort to add fish structure around the lake several rock reefs were added this fall. Those who fish in the Whitebreast area should be able to access these reefs both by boat or on foot and should be able to catch some large fish. Once the Red Rock Dam drawdown process is completed and the lake returns to normal water level, the reef will be submerged approximately five feet below the surface. The DNR says they are considering adding similar reefs to other locations depending on the amount of state funds available.
