Mental health care reform has been an issue being discussed during the Iowa Legislature this session. According to Rod Braun, Director of the Christian Opportunity Center several of the proposals he has heard would hurt rural Iowans, either through reductions in funding for programs, or consolidation efforts. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that as generous as the local communities are, a large part of the COC’s funding is supplied through state and federal dollars. Braun says that while he has numerous concerns, he is waiting for an official proposal to hit the floor in the state legislature before he levies any specific criticisms.
