Lieutenant Aaron Fuller of the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News April is Sexual Abuse Awareness month.

Fuller says the Department along with others all over the nation will be publishing materials directed at growing awareness of sexual abuse and ways to prevent it. Fuller advises parents to teach children from a young age that no means no and that if you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault, abuse, or rape it is best to report it as soon as possible so that evidence can be gathered quickly and efficiently. In a sexual abuse case the best window for a good case to be established is within 72 hours of the assault.
