Last Tuesday, a Pella resident was arrested on multiple charges and on Thursday this week he received an additional charge of sexual assault. According to court documents, Benjamin Lee Curtis allegedly tried to convince a woman to have sexual intercourse with him, and when she refused he backhanded and choked her. She was taken to Pella Regional Health Center where she spoke with the Pella Police Department. Curtis was released on $6,000 dollars bond and has a no contact order with the victim. His official charges so far are possession of drug paraphernalia, domestic assault with injury, false imprisonment, obstruction of justice and sexual assault.
