City of Pleasantville Police Chief Joe Mrstik tells KNIA KRLS News that in a few weeks, the Iowa DOT will be lowering the speed limit from 65 to 55, on Highway 5 from just north of Pleasantville south to the intersection of 5 and 92. Chief Mrstik says that Law Enforcement has been asked to be visible and enforce the new speed change. He says this area was studied because of the number of serious accidents. The DOT felt that this change could reduce accidents. They will also put improved signage at two of the intersections into Pleasantville. Mrstik also says that the City Council approved all the yield signs in Pleasantville to be changed to stop signs. In the coming weeks, Public Works will be making these changes.
