Pella Schools Superintendent Mark Wittmer shared those concerns about restricting the number of Superintendents per county to one. Wittmer says the concept of consolidating the position doesn’t make much sense from a practical standpoint, especially for larger districts. He says many districts could be joined together, but that needs are much different in each county. Marvin Van Wyk, President of the Pella School Board says a proposal like this removes control over schools from local districts. He says each district is unique in the way it educates students, and this move would not be a positive benefit to students.
