County Highway T-14 was closed for nearly an hour this morning following a two vehicle accident. Pella Police, Ambulance, Fire Department, Pella Rural Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene approximately three miles north of Pella at 7:44 am. According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Report, Kristin M. Holdemen of Reasnor was traveling south on T-14 and as she negotiated a curve, began to slide because of frost on the road. Holden’s vehicle made contact with a northbound vehicle occupied by Pella Christian High School Principal Darryl DeRuiter and Pella Christian Bible Instructor and PE Coach Nathan Van Wyk. All three were taken by ambulance to Pella Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. A hospital spokesperson reports DeRuiter, Van Wyk and Holdemen are currently in good condition. A state trooper at the scene was also transported to Pella Regional after suffering from an unrelated and unknown medical condition. The investigation remains under control. KNIA/KRLS News will have the latest information as it becomes official.
