A Waterloo man was arrested on Felony Forgery charges in Knoxville.

Court documents show that 34-year-old Jamerious Smith cashed what was made to look like a payroll check at a local business at another local business for $699.82. Upon further inspection of the check by the Knoxville Police Department, the word “void” had been printed on the check and the owner of the business advised police that the check was not issued from that business, and that no Jamerious Smith currently or previously worked for them. Further investigation saw Smith identified from the drivers license he presented when cashing the check, and that he had multiple prior forgery convictions. Smith was taken to Marion County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
